In an increasingly diverse environment, this statement is meant to inspire the campus community to be sensitive towards one another. ABC Community College is dedicated to fostering a community where the employees, faculty, and students feel accepted and safe on campus. In the effort to maintain the integrity of the environment, the college has established a Harassment and Discrimination Policy. It is the responsibility of everyone entering the college setting to uphold the policy guidelines. This training is designed to define the aspects of harassment and discrimination, along with prevention strategies.
Colleges today are experiencing increased numbers of harassment and discrimination as reported across the United States. These unwelcome behaviors make it difficult for college members to feel safe and hinder the ability to learn, work, and participate in this environment.
Harassment and Discrimination occur in a number of ways and is often overlooked. Some behaviors are overlooked as social norms in a diverse community. For the same reason, behaviors are reported because there is a lack of understanding of what some may be considered affection and for others harassment. This training is designed to education participants on the actions that are considered harassment, the sensitive aspects of discrimination.
